The RL100 UK is driving change in NHS recruitment! With Adrian Thomas joining the NHS Overhauling Recruitment Programme’s Oversight Committee, RL100 members have a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare hiring. Discover how this partnership is tackling key challenges and creating a recruitment system fit for world-class care.
Last year, the RL100 UK received an extraordinary opportunity to contribute its expertise to one of the most vital sectors in the country, the National Health Service (NHS). The invitation to provide expert input to the NHS Overhauling Recruitment Programme marked a significant milestone in RL100’s ongoing mission to drive meaningful change in recruitment practices.
At the heart of this collaboration were Adrian Thomas, RL100 Board Advisor, and active RL100 legacy member, Ed Scrivener. These two represented the RL100 at a pivotal workshop focused on improving NHS recruitment processes. Their insights and contributions helped shape early discussions on how the NHS could address some of its pressing recruitment challenges, from attracting top talent, to streamlining hiring processes.
Following the workshop, Adrian was formally invited by the Department of Health & Social Care and NHS England to join the Oversight Committee for the NHS Overhauling Recruitment Programme. This committee plays a crucial role in providing strategic direction and support to the programme, and Adrian’s involvement ensures a continuous link between the NHS and the RL100.
Through Adrian, the RL100 now has a direct channel to influence one of the most critical recruitment transformations in the UK. As part of the Oversight Committee, Adrian will be able to relay valuable insights from RL100 members, helping to shape solutions that address the NHS’s unique challenges.
Looking ahead to 2025, the RL100’s partnership with the NHS will offer exciting opportunities for members to contribute their expertise. From sharing best practices and success stories at summits, to participating in deep dives on specific recruitment challenges, the RL100 members will play an integral role in supporting the NHS to deliver its vital services more effectively.
The RL100’s input will be sought on a range of topics, including strategies for attracting healthcare professionals in a competitive market, enhancing candidate experience, and implementing innovative technology solutions. By leveraging the collective knowledge of its members, the RL100 can help the NHS build a recruitment framework that meets the demands of the future.
Adrian and the RL100’s involvement in this initiative is particularly noteworthy for his decision to undertake this work on a voluntary basis. As Adrian explained, “the NHS is critical to this country’s health and both he and many people he knows (some in this community) have benefited from the superb care that the NHS provides, it wouldn’t be right to charge them a day rate!”
With Adrian serving as a vital link between the RL100 and the NHS, 2025 promises to be a year of meaningful contributions and transformative progress. Together, the RL100 and NHS are working towards a shared goal: building a recruitment system that ensures the NHS continues to provide world-class care for generations to come.
