Martin has been knocking about in recruitment for over 20 years, starting out headhunting accountants from investment banks, before moving ‘internal’ with companies such as Carphone Warehouse, Deloitte, Molson Coors and BJSS. Over the past 5 years, Martin has exclusively focused on supporting start-ups and scale-ups (Series A through to post IPO), and leading and guiding teams and TA strategies with companies like BitPanda, sennder, Onfido and most recently with Pod Point.
He’s hugely passionate (and nerdy) about Data and ensuring that it tells a story. Candidate, Hiring Manager and Recruiter experience is something Martin cares about deeply. He’s a member of the All Party Parliamentary Steering committee for Recruitment and use this to drive positive change within an industry he loves.
Outside of work, Martin is a husband, father to 2 and is at his happiest out walking the dog through the wilds of Mid-Sussex or watching rugby!
What’s a professional achievement of yours from 2024 that you are proud of?
Being asked to join the All Party Parliamentary Committee to make recruitment, better, faster and fairer for all
How has the RL Community helped you this year?
I have been to 3 events over the past 12 months. 2 x summits and RecFest. The summits were incredible and enabled me to take ideas away and incorporate them into my company. Plus, hearing that everyone else within the TA Leadership community are coming up against the same struggles as me was invaluable.
Finally, what is your prediction for the TA industry for 2025?
I think it is going to continue to be really tough out there. I’m annoyingly optimistic as a person, but even I’m being challenged on the short-mid term TA landscape. As Leaders we need to be continuously creative and innovative in driving efficiencies, as we will continue to come up against cost challenges.
